| Querkus News - August 2002
Hi all. Karen again with news of Querkus.
First of all, we had a great July. Here's what went on:
* We advanced to round 2 of Search for RA NRG at the Pyramid. Yay.
* The Sarah Slean concert was brilliant!!! We played at the WECC to a sold out
crowd of attentive young girls. I loved performing those songs on a concert
grand piano (although it made it harder to get back to the keyboard). Felt a
little funny with the Q-94 banners everywhere, but we got over that quickly.
Don't get me wrong, though... I still love my UMFM and CKUW. Edgar thinks we
should send a promo package to Q-94. We'll see...
* Although we didn't get a very good time slot at the Fringe, we did reach a
few new people and sold some CDs. We love playing outside, that's for sure.
August is going to be more low key, but not inactive. Here's what we have
planned:
* Monday, August 19th at the Pyramid : Round II of Search for RA NRG at the
Pyramid. Dave at the Pyramid says he has scheduled the "more unique" bands for
that night. Also playing is Ninja Turds (a comedy rock 2-piece w/ Matt
Henderson of Royal Winnipeg Porn Orchestra), Burnt (Aboriginal dance grooves),
and Coleco (we've played with them before... cute indie pop with keyboards).
Please come out and support us. It should be a really interesting night. You
can get tickets for you and all your friends from us for $4; just drop us a
line or an email and we'll get them to you. You can also get tickets at the
door.
* Thursday, August 22nd at the Royal Albert Arms Hotel (ot looks so good
written out like than, doesn't it?) : Querkus with Late Morning Child, a duo
from Maryland who play "underwater road music for ghosts". Find out more and
here some mp3s at www.latemorningchild.com
Well, that's it. Just one more thing that I thought was funny (but do NOT take
any responsibility for its content!!!) is this website:
http://www.mgmtech.com/todd/so/easterbunny01/. I think its a odd, disturbing,
yet very funny Querkus connection. If you are under 18 be careful about this
one.
Anyways, xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxooxasdfjsndkfnasoiugywqouigh
