Querkus News - December 2003

Hey there, not sure what happened to November - hope you enjoyed it.

What's happening in Querkus Land, let's see... We are kind of lying low for the momment. I just wrote another one... lots of new songs heading out of the basement shortly. Edgar and I have also been helping Jaimz out with his new short film... we're doing sound and we were both in it too. I'll let you know when it will be showing. As for live Querkus outings, there is one coming up on January 17th. I know that's far away but mark it down wherever you mark down important things that you don't want to forget about. It will be a big multimedia party at Video Pool in the Artspace building. I don't have many details so far, but apparently someone decided that January 17th is the birthday of "ART", and Video Pool (and other arts organizations all over the world) are celebrating. The parties will be somehow linked through computers and people doing things with computers will somehow make lights flash and glitter machines turn on, etc. Sounds strange and fun to me, hope you decide to investigate. I'm sure I will have more details for you in January.

Ok, just one more thing... the "holiday" season is here, whichever holiday you may be celebrating. Seeing how we all seem to be trapped in this capitalist culture, most of us are expected to distribute gifts to our friends and family this month, which can be a very nice gesture... it can also get VERY EXPENSIVE if you are not careful and have a long list of people who need a little something from you. I'm sure you all know that you can get Querkus CDs from our website... if you didn't, go look, its www.querkus.net but I digress. If you are looking for ways to save money this month, here is a suggestion. One of my very favorite gifts to recieve is a mixed tape, er CD (showing my age once again) of music that someone else really likes and wants to share with me. I have discovered loads of music through lovingly assembled compilations that friends and family have given me. If you have a computer with a CD burner, why not make mixed CDs of your favorites from 2003, or music that you like to listen to at the gym, or in the bathtub, or just makes you feel good to be alive or whatever other reason you can think of... but this is music after all, it doesn't need to be reasonable. Just pick 12 songs or so and burn them on there, make it look nice with some of your art (doen't worry if you don't think you are artistic, you are). And please, if you could, put a Querkus song on just to spread my own personal brand of love around a little more... that's how we reach people, through well-meant sharing. It would mean the world to me. And to show my gratitude, it you give me a copy of your special song collection (in real or mp3 form), I'll give you one of mine including an unreleased, possibly never to be released new track I've come up with. So thanks, and happy snowy season!

xoxoxo
