Querkus News - July 2002

Hi there - BOth our June shows (Kite Festival and Wolseley street festival) went well over all. There was some confusion about where we we susposed to park/when (& how long) we were susposed to play at the kite festival, and rain nearly cancelled our Wolselet show, but it all go pulled off ok. It was nice to see some familiar faces in the audience. It would sure be nice to see some more. I miss you guys.

So, for July - 3 shows so far. All are on Tuesdays (not purposefully). The first is coming up fast - Tuesday July 2nd and the Pyramid as part of Search For RA NRG battle of the bands. Please don't laugh (or take this show seriously). However, it would be great to see a decent turnout from the Querkus crew so we have some people there who actually like what we do. If we win we get to go to Canadian Music Week next year. I have tickets to sell for $4 each - let me know and I will get them to you. BTW, the other bands playing are Mudkicker (Blues/Rock), Few Screws Loose (Punk), and Venus Mantrap (Girl Pop).

The second show is extra exciting as far as I'm concerned. We are going to be the opening act for Sarah Slean at the West End Cultural Centre on Tuesday, July 16th. If you haven't heard Sarah Slean before, you are in for a treat. You can hear samples of her music on www.sarahslean.com. Tickets are 10 bucks in advance from ticketmaster or at the WECC. The show is expected to sell out, so get your tickets ASAP. Doors open at 7:15 PM, Querkus plays are around 8.

The third show is another delightful outdoor affair - Tuesday, July 23rd at 5:00 on the Old Market Square stage during the Fringe Festival. Come sit on the grass and watch our set. Admittion is "pass the hat".

Well, that's all for now. Hope to see you around.
