Querkus News - July 2003

Hey everyone, I'm on the ball this time, sending out the July edition of Querkusness 2 days in advance. Yay punctuality.

We have been busy in June, as you may or may not recall... the Pride show was EXCELLENT, thanks to Patrice for inviting us to play, and Iain Whittaker for being an awesome guy and great drummer. We only played 15 minutes and would have liked to go longer but what can be done. I think we set a great mood for the masquarade party, and recieved some descriptions like, " an after-midnight sound that made me feel like I was in Twin Peaks". Oooo, I just love that, I'm sure we will use it for something. So that show went well.

St. Norbert ended up being fine. We always have to be careful playing at places that don't have a dedicated sound system, due to the electronic component of our music. If the sound system isn't adequate or set up properly with someone to work the mixing board, we just can't play because we can't hear anything. But Edgar, Edgar is so amazing. He set up the whole thing and got Mike from Jamoeba to work sound for us. It rained so we had top play indoors which was disappointing (I love playing outdoors, and playing outdoors on the Solstice sounds completely divine). In the end, though, it was pulled off quite nicely. Thanks to Jeff of Rhinoceros for playing drums with us that night (he learned all those songs in 1 week... pretty amazing if you ask me).

Ok, so what's next? We have our CDs now, there are only 100. They will be for sale at our launch, which will be at The Blue Agave on Donald (the old Mother Tucker's). If you want to reserve a copy for yourself please respond to this email. The CD launch will be loads of fun, and only $5 at the door. I strongly encourage everyone to come. It's only $5 at the door. I recommend getting there early (by 10:30) because HAVANA night fills up fast. Last time they had 600 people come through the door. Come and treat yourself to some tequilia, some flooring music and a good party, that much we can promise you. And hey, any feedback on www.querkus.net? You like?

Ok, that's it for now. For the rest of July we are going to recording music for a demo and putting together grant applications. The next studio album... it will be truely lovely, I promise you (and me... the biggest critic of all) great things.

See you on JULY 5 at the BLUE AGAVE!!!
