Querkus News - June 2003

A long, long overdue HELLO!!!!

We missed you all so much over the past few months; now its time to stop consoling ourselves with alcohol and drugs and make contact once again. Rest assured Querkus did NOT die, Querkus is ready for so much more than that.

So what happened? Here goes it all -- well, as you may or may not recall last August Edgar and I took "Introduction to Electronic Dance Music Production" at Precursor Productions and found it exceptionally rewarding. We got a studio computer shortly after and then skipped town for a few weeks to tour in eastern Canada. When we returned, we got into three main projects - rewriting all our old material with our new-fangled technologies, getting our website remade, and gettting our new CD live together that was recorded during a show we played in Toronto.

Sadly, these things do not happen overnight...

So, that brings me to the here and now. We are still recovering our old material, and much new material is being writ. We are having our first ever live show with this new stuff on Sunday, June 8th at 8pm at the Empire Cabaret as part of The Flames of New Orleans: a Masquerade. This the the "Pride Cabaret" portion of the Pride Winnipeg festival. Tickets are $15 Happenings, Gio's, Club 200, McNally Robinson, and Discreet Boutique. Doors open at 7:30, masks and costumes thouroughly encouraged but not mandatory. Please come out and say hi, we miss you. If you can 't make it (or if you want to see us again soon), come out to St. Norbert Art Centre (where the first Querkus show ever took place) on Saturday, June 21st for a Solstice Party extrordinaire. There will be TONNES of stuff happening there, including workshops in Celtic Music by Ten Bones and The Living Earth Culture Village -- I love SNAC and go out there often, if you have never been out there I can't recommend it enough. For more info: www.snac.mb.ca

The CD? We should be printing them over the next 2 weeks, and will release it on Saturday, July 5th the Blue Agave as part of Havana, a night of downtempo and tribal house put on by Precursor Productions. We will be playing a full 45 minute set and have a LIMITED number of CDs - we are only printing 100 of them. They will contain 9 live tracks, 2 new studio tracks we made at Precursor Productions, and the remix of October 16 by Joe Silva. Yay!!

The website? GO AND CHECK IT OUT RIGHT NOW!
