Subject: Querkus in October - news from Toronto

Hey everyone - here's the latest news from the tour. We have finally figured out how to hook up Edgar's laptop to roaming sympatico so we can check our email and report back to all you lovely people.
We left thursday morning at about 10:30 AM (late, yes I know... it had to do with last minute fixing of the car that Edgar didn't have time to do before because he has been working all time... he got back from his previous trip at 2 am thursday morning. Poor bastard). We rolled into Thunder Bay at around 7:30 PM eastern time... we forgot about the time change. When we got into town we had a few adventures in Karen's driving... I am not as good at standard shift as I would like. I put the car in 4th instead of 2nd, paniced, and then ripped the knob of the shifter... Edgar was not impressed but he was able to fix it the next morning. We got a room in a hotel/Kareoke bar down the road from the psych hospital, and them made our way to the Apollo. I liiked the Apollo... it is kind of like a cross between the Royal Albert and the old Bluenote on Portage. The sound system was quite good and Adam, the booking guy, also proved to be a competant soundtech. Turnout was smaller than we expected... about 12 people (apparently thursday nights are bad there becasuse another bar has cheap beer that night), but those who were there had a great time... someone bought us drinks and a CD. The cutest part of the night was when I announced that we had free stickers... everyone in the bar lined up by the stage.
The next morning (afternoon) we got up and left T Bay at 1 PM and basically just drove until we got to Toronto... it's great being on tour with a truck driver, I hardly had to drive (may have had something to do with Thursdays knob insident...). Got to Toronto about 8 am Saturday morning and have been staying with Edgar's dad. Played our first Toronto show last night at Holy Joes which is a very cool place. It's a small bar in a bar muticomplex of 4 bars. We played as part of Aspect, which is an experimental/electronic night at Holy Joes on the 2nd Sunday of every month. The audience was about 20 people, who could fill the room. It felt great in there... the soundtech was brilliant and gave us a music-complementing light show and burnt a live recoding of our set to CD for us. We sold a bunch of CDs and t-shirts. Yay. So there you have it - we are still alive... one more Toronto gig left (the 16th), then Trois Rivieres, then Montreal, then Quebec City. I will let you know how the whole thing went when I get back.

xoxoxox - we'll set up a Winnipeg show for ya as soon as we're back in town.
