Querkus News - October 2003

So here it is, a beautiful October - 1 full year since the eastern tour. Where did the time go? Hope you are all enjoying the beautiful leaves if they are changing yet in your portion of the earth. Here we have elms, the only golden arches I can get into.

Thank you all for coming out to the Autumn Art Expo - wasn't it great? Everyone who was involved took great care in presenting their music/art/video/perfomance and it showed. I hope this becomes an annual event. Vav Jungle with the Pee Wee Herman and Marian the Librarian -- oh Eve don't ever change -- the Absent Sound made us feel like we were all sitting around a psycadellic campfire and then those stilt people showed up -- WOW --- and Antigravity, whom I have had some reservations of in the past COMPLETELY blew me away. I was also pleasantly suprised by ?Dave Street?, the poetry guy, I usually don't get too excited about poetry reading but he really impressed me. And I didn't get a good look at too much of the art (SORRY!!!), but I hope everyone who hasn't gotten a chance to see Aliza Amihude's Vinyl Nature Jewellery does so -- all this stupid controversy over it is crazy -- its all very beautiful and highly political -- 237 McDermot is where to go to see it (CraftSpace).

Well, there is my review. I didn't get to observe the Querkus portion of the evening but it sure felt great and I believe most people enjoyed it based on the thunderous applause -- oh I love you all so very very very much I would break myself into pieces for each and every one of you just because you support my art (and Edgar's art) and nothing could mean much more. THANK YOU!!!

So what now? We're writing songs, I have some elaborate grant proposal ideas kicking around that may or amy not involve the WSO and Wpg Contemporary Dancers (Shhhh! Let's not jinx it!), my grade 9 piano studies are really doing wonders for me. That's about it. We will hopefully be playing out at least one more time before the end of the year. If you don't have The Fire Behind Us yet it will be for sale on the website very soon now that I have all that Paypal stuff figured out (sort of) -- and we really don't have many left, I think about 25 and that will be it, so get it soon. You won't be dissapointed, promise.

So there you have it, sorry there are no shows to announce right now... if you are just itching to get out tonight I recommend going down to Academy Coffee Company to check out Filbatross featuring Leigh (the same one who does sound at the Albert) and Jeff - the drummer who played with us at the Art Expo.

See You around!!!
